SANTA FE, NM (KRQE) – Many trees fell in Tuesday night’s storm, but one of those trees was a piece of history. The massive spruce that stood in front of the Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi in Santa Fe for decades no longer exists. While no one seems to know exactly how long it’s been around, it’s something everyone knows and will miss.
The tree, which had stood tall and proud in front of Santa Fe Cathedral for decades, fell on Wednesday morning. “I came here this morning and, to be honest, I was shocked that the tree was huge,” said local resident Feliz Skamser Zonca.
