Update: Animal Transport Service sends aid to Las Cruces after losing a dog in their care

LAS CRUCES, NM (KTSM) – A Florida-based animal transportation company said it was sending its most experienced van to Las Cruces to look for Jingo, a dog that was lost earlier this week after running away from a dog handler at a gas station .

The Las Cruces community is looking for a dog that has been lost to an animal transport service

As KTSM previously reported, a woman in Los Angeles hired Blue Collar Pet Transportation to bring her dog, Jingo, home. However, the dog bit the employee who was responsible for transporting Jingo and fled to a Love truck station in Las Cruces in the desert.

The Las Cruces community heard of the dog’s disappearance and gathered to look for her in the desert.

The dog’s owner said her pet was naturally nervous and said she had previously notified the carrier of this.

In a statement, Blue Collar Pet Transportation told KTSM:

We train for this every day. Jingo turned and bit the van during a potty stop and it was noticed that he was a runner and indeed, when the van backed away from the bite, Jingo seized the opportunity and drove off. We spent 2 days searching the area, knocking on doors and showing pictures of Jingo to companies. We were in contact with animal control and the local police for help.

A company spokesman said they want to continue helping the family find jingo, which was last seen in the desert. However, groups could not save them.

“It’s a very precarious business we’re in, but we started it because of the owner’s love for animals. We would never do anything other than what’s best for the pet and the customer, but we are human and certainly not perfect. We are doing everything in our power to find jingo, ”said the spokesman.
