Vescovo sells Toyota dealers to the Viva Auto Group from El Paso

Bulletin report

“It’s the end of an era,” said Vescovo Toyota owner George Vescovo on Tuesday morning, December 14th.

He sold the dealership at 780 S. Valley Drive to the Viva Auto Group of El Paso, with the change of ownership taking effect on December 13th.

Vescovo said he will remain the dealership’s general manager, but it is the first time since the 1960s that a member of the Vescovo family, including his father and two grandfathers, does not own a dealership.

“It is an absolute honor to serve the community and I am really optimistic that Viva will continue to do so,” said Vescovo.

In addition to many other community donations, Vescovo donated at least 10 vehicles to Las Cruces Public Schools for its annual Count Me In car raffle to support student participation.

Here is Vescovo’s December 13 message on his Facebook page:

“It’s time for the sun to set on Vescovo Toyota. Vescovo Toyota served the Las Cruces community for nearly 40 years.

“In 1982 Paul Vescovo bought Desert Motors Toyota and renamed it Las Cruces Toyota. His son, George Vescovo, started running the dealership in 1999. In 2013, George Vescovo became the dealership’s president and chief dealer, renaming it the Vescovo Toyota of Las Cruces.

Under the leadership of George Vescovo, the dealership experienced tremendous growth. Vescovo Toyota built a new state-of-the-art facility on 7.2 hectares (at 780 S. Valley Drive) in 2018. Vescovo Toyota has been the top-selling new car franchise in Las Cruces for several years. In 2021, Vescovo Toyota received the DealerRater New Mexico Toyota Dealer of the Year and was voted Best New Car Dealer and Best Used Car Dealer.

In the future, we hope that the Viva Auto Group will successfully serve Las Cruces as a local Toyota dealer. We are very grateful that you have chosen to hire almost all of the Vescovo Toyota employees. “
