Where can those in Albuquerque consume cannabis come April 1?

On Monday, the Albuquerque City Council was supposed to vote on an enforcement plan for where people can consume marijuana, but no vote was made. Instead, they tabled the discussion at the April 4 meeting. With no plan in place, Day said people will have to refer to state law. “It is illegal to smoke marijuana in public,” Day said. That means in Albuquerque, at least for now, people will only have one place they can legally smoke marijuana. “You can smoke it in your house if you want to, but you still can’t smoke in public until these designated areas are established under state law,” Day said. But the day may come when you can smoke it in some public places around New Mexico. in December, Bernalillo County approved rules for cannabis regulation. In the rules it states lounges cannot allow smoking of cannabis flowers outdoors; however, smoking is allowed inside a building, meeting county requirements. “Until these designated areas are set up under state law, it’s still going to be illegal to consume marijuana, to smoke marijuana in public,” Day said. One of the things the city council plans to discuss on April 4, is an amendment to the clean indoor air act.The act makes it unlawful to smoke in certain public places.
