NEW MEXICO (KRQE) – Today is going to be another great day with cool morning temperatures but high afternoon temperatures in the 60’s and 70’s. The wind is mostly weak, from the west at 5-15 miles per hour. The sky stays mostly to partly sunny with some high clouds making waves over the state. The next storm system will cross the Rockies on Tuesday, bringing with it a cold front and some moisture. Patchy showers are possible in the highlands of northern New Mexico and southern Colorado on Tuesday. Light snow will fall in the San Juan Mountains with an accumulation of less than 3 “. On Wednesday, it will rain and snow in the northern mountains, northeastern highlands, and far east of New Mexico. Accumulation will be limited and light.
Temperatures will especially cool in eastern New Mexico. Temperatures will drop 10-15 degrees on Tuesday and remain cooler than normal on the east side of the state through Thursday. The Rio Grande Valley and western New Mexico will only cool to about 5 degrees from Tuesday through Thursday.
