Woman arrested near Edgewood to be extradited on homicide charges | Local News

A woman arrested near Edgewood is being extradited to New York to be charged with murder, the New Mexico State Police said Thursday.

Haiyan Deng, 31, was arrested on Interstate 40 side at around 6:30 pm on September 22nd, police said.

A state police officer stopped to check on Deng while she was stopped because two tires on her vehicle were flat.

Deng matched the description of a murder suspect wanted by New York police. She struggled when the officer tried to arrest her, but a passerby stopped to help the officer until the Torrance County Sheriff’s deputies arrived, police said.

The state police accused Deng of defying, evading, and obstructing an officer.
