Here are the top three stories in Albuquerque today:
- The Albuquerque City Council is trying to pass a tax cut for Albuquerque residents. The new cut would remove one-eight of a cent from the gross receipts tax. Opponents of the tax cut are arguing that it is the worst time possible for the city to reduce its budget. The city is currently making city bus use free and there are concerns that a tax cut will prevent that. ()
- Officers with the Albuquerque Police Department shot a suspect during a Saturday evening incident. Officers responded to Ramway Blvd. SE and Central Ave SE after receiving calls about a man pointing a firearm at people in the parking lot. The incident escalated and resulted in officers killing the suspect. (KOAT New Mexico)
- The ABQ BioPark Zoo’s Asia exhibit project will enhance the animals’ lives while providing a unique experience for visitors. The project is expected to be completed by Feb. of next year and will be the first stage in a bigger Australia exhibit at the park. The exhibit will be 5 acres and will house Malayan tigers, snow leopards, primates, and many other animals. ()
