17-year-old is to be charged as an adult in fatal shootout in Las Cruces in July

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) – A 17-year-old boy is indicted in the fatal shooting of Nicodemus “Nico” Gonzales as an adult at a house party in Las Cruces in July.

On Friday, Mawu Revels was indicted by a grand jury and charged in the shooting as an adult. He is being detained in the Doña Ana County Detention Center without any bonds. Revels is charged with first degree murder (willful and willful), one case of first degree murder – conspiracy, two cases of grievous bodily harm (fatal weapon), one case of grievous bodily harm – conspiracy, two cases of shooting at or from a motor vehicle (not a major one Mayhem).

Since District Court Justice Richard M. Jacquez found Revels dangerous, he ruled that no release conditions would adequately protect the safety of the community.

Another teenager, Isaiah James William Taylor, 19, was arrested in connection with the shooting and is charged with face-to-face murder, two counts of aggravated assault with a lethal weapon, and shooting at a house or apartment.

Gonzales, 23, died on the scene, held on July 31 at a house party on the 1800 block of Chaparro Street.
