Docuseries to focus on Santa Fe’s fine dining

September 24 – Santa Fe’s upscale Sazón and Sassella restaurants will be featured in the first two episodes of a new documentary series, Santa Fe Foods, which started production in the city this month, said Lawrence Becerra, co-owner of the two restaurants.

Santa Fe Foods, which has not yet been picked up by any online or broadcast company, intends to feature six local chefs by September and October, the New Mexico Film Office reported.

Filming will begin in Sazón in early October, Becerra said, but Windmill Winds Entertainment is already in Santa Fe filming street scenes and places like the Santa Fe Farmers Market.

“Santa Fe is becoming more and more popular,” Becerra said. “Santa Fe is definitely one of the characters [in the show]. It is very helpful for us as a restaurant. It’s phenomenal for Santa Fe.

“It’s huge, powerful.”

Windmill Winds Executive Director Greg Zoch, who is the company’s founder, producer, and writer, didn’t respond to a request for an interview about the project.

The owners of the Martín restaurant, the Market Steer Steakhouse and Geronimo said they worked with the company and could be part of the production.

“We filmed an excerpt with them [Tuesday]“Said Jennifer Rios, co-owner of the Martín restaurant, on Wednesday. “If they can pick up the show, they’ll come back and do an episode with us.”

Market Steer co-owner Kristina Goode confirmed that the restaurant she co-owns with Kathleen Crook will be participating in Santa Fe Foods.

Geronimo owner Chris Harvey said Windmill Winds made a promo at the restaurant on Tuesday.

“I don’t have a schedule yet. I think they’ll start filming here next year,” he added.

In a press release from the New Mexico Film Office Tuesday, Greg Zoch said he and co-producer Teresa Zoch have been “lifelong passionate about Santa Fe and the vibrant, immersive experiences that Santa Fe offers”.

The story goes on

“Last but not least, the world-class restaurants. So we’re excited to be working with some really wonderful and talented people to bring the amazing City Different to the world.”

The production employs approximately six New Mexico crew members, 12 local leads and 20 background actors, the publication said.

Greg Zoch has written scripts for The Windmiller, One Hundred Dollars and Seeds of Destruction and developed scripts for How Lulu Saved Matthew, Ghost Mine, The Treehouse, The Glass and The Kingdom of Heaven.

Santa Fe Foods will incorporate the art, shopping, and recreational activities of the city into the features of the six chefs.
