Aggies Prepare for William H. Tucker Intercollegiate in Albuquerque

ALBUQUERQUE, NM – After an opening tournament in Colorado, the NM State men’s golf team returns to the Land of Enchantment for the William H. Tucker Invitational. The second tournament of the year will take place in Albuquerque and will be hosted by the University of New Mexico.

Aidan Thomas won the William H. Tucker Intercollegiate in 2021 and will once again return to his hometown of Albuquerque. Thomas will begin the tournament in the third slot of the Aggies’ lineup, teeing off before Garrison Smith and Alexandre Bauduin.

Bauduin, a Bassussarry, France native, returns to Albuquerque after spending two seasons at the University of New Mexico. After entering the transfer portal this summer, Coach Mike Dirks landed Bauduin with the hope of making an immediate impact on the NM State program.

The Field

NM State and in-state rival New Mexico will once again clash in the Land of Enchantment. The field will also feature BYU, Colorado, Denver, Hawai’i, Loyola Marymount, Nebraska, North Texas, Northern Illinois, San Francisco, San Diego, San Diego State, TCU, UNLV, Utah Tech, UTEP, UTSA, and Wyoming. A group of individuals from Texas also wants to compete in Albuquerque.

The William H. Tucker Intercollegiate will take place over the span of two days. On Friday, September 23, the event will begin with a shotgun start at 7:30 am MT and each golfer will play 36 holes. The following day, each player will compete for 18 additional holes, beginning at 7:30 am MT.

Numbers to Know
1 –
Alexandre Bauduin will return to Albuquerque for the first time as a member of the Aggies, sitting in the No. 1 spot for the opening round. Bauduin transferred from the University of New Mexico this summer and the William H. Tucker Intercollegiate will be his first tournament wearing crimson.

2 – The trip to Albuquerque will be the second tournament of the year for NM State. The Aggies opened the season in Colorado Springs, finishing tied for third at the Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational, hosted by Air Force.

83 – Defending William H. Tucker Invitational champion Aidan leads all NM State players, sitting at 83rd in the national rankings, according to Golfstat.

97 – NM State enters the weekend ranked 97th in the Golfweek team rankings. The Aggies sit directly above SEC members Arkansas and Kentucky.
