Albuquerque boss calls for the driver’s surrender and hit-and-run

ALBUQUERQUE, NM – The Albuquerque Police Chief wants a hit and run driver accused of beating a man and his young son earlier this month to surrender.

The little boy, Pronoy Bhattacharya, was killed. Chief Harold Medina posted a video on Wednesday stating that Sergio Almanza chose to drink, drive and accelerate and ended up killing the 7-year-old boy.

Calling on Almanza to surrender himself, Medina said police knew he had young children too and would demand justice if any of them were injured. Almanza is said to have driven an off-road vehicle on Des. 12 when he ran over a red light and hit the boy and his father before he fled.
