Albuquerque City Council signs the tax district for the UNM’s southern campus

NEW MEXICO (KRQE) – Another calm and mild start to Day 4 of the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta, but wind speeds are starting to pick up slightly. All of this before the next storm, which arrives later Tuesday, bringing heavy rain for western New Mexico and some breezy conditions elsewhere. The high temperatures will remain mild throughout the metropolitan area for the next three days as we will reach the upper 70s to around 80 degrees with more cloud cover from late Tuesday. Our weather will change dramatically across the state as multiple storms keep tabs on New Mexico. Roswell is approaching 90 degrees and staying dry while Farmington cools with rain into the lower 60s.

After a quieter and sunny late week, the stronger storm comes on the weekend. This will have some very strong gusts of wind to conclude the Balloon Fiesta, as a strong jet stream flies directly over us. Wind gusts can easily exceed 30-40 miles per hour by the afternoon, with temperatures cooling off slightly for central New Mexico.
