LAS CRUCES — All four Las Cruces high school baseball teams and two Las Cruces softball teams qualified for the New Mexico Activities Association Class 5A playoffs, the Association announced in its selection show Sunday evening.
Organ Mountain, Centennial, Las Cruces and Mayfield high schools earned the No. 4, no. 11, no. 12 and no. 15 seeds in the state baseball tournament, respectively. Centennial and Mayfield’s softball teams earned the No. 2 and no. 8 seeds while Organ Mountain and Las Cruces missed the cut.
Baseball and softball playoffs begin Friday.

Organ Mountain’s baseball team, and Centennial and Mayfield’s softball teams will host the first round of the playoffs after earning top eight seeds. Centennial, Las Cruces and Mayfield’s baseball teams will visit their respective sites.
Organ Mountain baseball will host No. 13 seed Los Lunas, Centennial will travel to No. 6 Cleveland, Las Cruces will play at No. 5 Hobbs and Mayfield will head to No. 2 Sandia this weekend. Centennial softball will host No. 15 Cibola and Mayfield softball will host No. 9 Piedra Vista. All first-round games will conclude by May 7.

Should they each win this weekend, Organ Mountain and Las Cruces’ baseball teams could meet in the second round. Centennial and Mayfield’s softball teams would not meet in the postseason until the state championship round, should they advance that far.

Individual teams will announce specific sites and game times.
