Anderson Dyer Obituary (1962 – 2022) – Anadarko, OK

Anderson L. Dyer (nashdoii) walked on from this life on Saturday, May 21, 2022 at Oklahoma City, OK. Anderson is a proud member of the Navajo Nation. He was born on September 30, 1962 at Shiprock, New Mexico into the Tachiinii (Red Running into Water Clan) born for Tabaaha (Water Edge Clan). Anderson was dearly loved by his parents, Lucille and Morris Dyer and his family. Anderson attended the Navajo Methodist Mission at Farmington, New Mexico. In 1976, as a teenager, he and the family moved to Miami, OK where he attended and graduated from Miami High School. During his time in Junior High and High School he excelled in running track and discovered his artistic abilities. Following graduation he became a US Marine Corps 1st Marine Brigade and served his country from 1980-1985 during the Cold War Era. His military service was in honor and respect to his grandfather, Leslie Hemstreet, who was a Navajo Code Talker during WWII. Upon an honorable discharge from the Marines, as a Corporal, he received an Associate’s Degree in Laboratory Medical Technology from Northeastern State A&M College in 1989 at Miami, OK. He later attended Pittsburg State University at Pittsburg, Kansas and received his Bachelors of Science in Education Degree in Health Education from Northern Arizona University at Flagstaff, Arizona in 2000. During and following his years in college he was a member of the Oklahoma and Arizona National Guard from 1991 -2009. Anderson was an accomplished native artist including painting and woodworking. He was a talented, compassionate and humane person who would help people in need. His passion was to assist Native communities through health education of diabetes, the elderly and infant health. Anderson also enjoyed attending local Pow Wows and working as a vendor of Native American artwork. He was a servant of God and a member of Grace Christian Fellowship Church in Anadarko, OK.

His daughter, Maria Nez, Anadarko, OK
His sister Marcelin R. Ober and husband John of Claremore, Oklahoma
His brother Art Thomas Jr. and wife Marla of Showlow, Arizona
Nephews and Niece: Elijah Pate, Deja Elizabeth Brady and Jared Pate
He leaves behind numerous aunties and uncles and cousins
He is preceded in death by his grandparents: Leslie and Elizabeth Hemstreet, his father Morris Dyer and his sister Clorinda June Hearder.
Pallbears will be David Hemstreet Jr., Duane Hemstreet, Ralph Hemstreet, Jonathan Hemstreet Jr., Darryl Hemstreet, Thomas Hemstreet, Darwin Hemstreet and Daniel Russell.
Honorable pallbears are Art Thomas, Aevan Thomas, Wyatt Thomas, Elijah Pate, Jared Pate and John Ober
Anderson will be greatly missed by his family and those who loved him. OOrahh!!!
Visitation will be 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, May 25, 2022 at Smith Funeral Home.
Graveside services with military honors and burial will be at the Hemstreet Family Plot on the Navajo Nation Reservation at Crystal, New Mexico. A reception will follow.
Services are under the direction of Smith Funeral Home, Anadarko, OK.
