LAS CRUCES, NM – A trio of new faces will join the NM State Women’s Golf Team for the 2022-23 academic year and beyond, head coach Danny Bowen announced Monday.

“This is our first class together for [assistant coach] Sophia [Newlove] and I,” Bowen commented. “She played a huge role in making sure we put together a solid group. I owe her a lot of credit for getting a little started with the NLI process. This should be a great group of girls who want to work hard. Each of them has the opportunity to join the team as a newcomer and influence it. We can’t wait to get them all on campus.”

Emma Bunch | newbie | Lynge, Denmark

• One of the best players on the Danish golf scene, selected for the Denmark women’s national team in 2022.
• Selected for a place in the Denmark girls’ national team in 2020.
Bowen on Bunch | “Emma will be an instant hit in our squad and will be fighting for our top spot from day one. She has a wealth of international experience and is a grinder, which is why she is already listed in the Top500
World Amateur Golf Rankings. Her game is already very polished, which includes the length of the tee shot and a great short game to boot. Emma scored a four-for-four cut in LET ACCESS pro events this year and had numerous other great finishes in the rest of the tournaments in Denmark. We can’t wait to see what she can achieve at NM State!”

Kaylee Chen | newbie | Denver, Colorado/Cherry Creek High School

• Won the 2019 Colorado Junior Amateur Championship.
• Was named 2017 Series Player of the Year.
• Received the 2019 Tour Player of the Year award.
Bowen on Chen | “Kaylee comes to us from Colorado looking for warm winters and year-round golf, and she will find just that. She has played extremely well on the Colorado junior golf scene as well as some recent AJGAs. We look forward to her continuing to play with that confidence at NMSU. What we are most excited about at Kaylee is her positive side and her potential to do even better in college. It will be fun watching her progress and helping her!

Marley Moncada | newbie | Tucson, Ariz./Cienega High School

• Finished runner-up at Arizona State Division II Girl’s Golf Championship in 2021.
• Helped her team finish in the top 25 in Arizona State in 2018.
Bowen on Moncada | “Marley will be a great Aggie. She has family ties within NM State and Las Cruces, so we know that during her four years she will be invested in the full experience as a student and athlete. Marley is the kind of athlete who doesn’t let anyone surpass her, so putting her in an environment where she can thrive with teammates who will also push her along the way will be fun. She’s someone who’s also never afraid to underperform, so we look forward to working with her!”
