CARES Act grant to help build an emergency medical facility in Anthony

Bulletin report

US Secretary of Commerce Gina M. Raimondo announced that the Department of Anthony, New Mexico’s Department of Economic Development Administration (EDA) is granting a CARES Act Recovery Assistance grant of $ 1.5 million to help build a support medical emergency facility there.

“I am grateful for all of the help that Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham and US sensors Ben Ray Lujan and Martin Heinrich, both DN.M., have provided in securing this important funding,” said Doreen Y. Gallegos. from the US state of New Mexico, D-Doña Ana, from Las Cruces. “Our rural communities deserve a dynamic, reliable health system that all other urban communities enjoy. This grant is only the first step in building a robust health infrastructure for this region, ”said Gallegos.

Gallegos represents the New Mexico House District 52, which also includes the city of Anthony.

Construction of the approximately 3,100-square-foot emergency medical facility will take place on the former Dos Lagos golf course, land purchased by the city of Anthony, Gallegos said. The Dos Lagos property will eventually host a multigenerational campus that will offer a variety of long-term employment opportunities as well as facilities to connect jobs with its citizens. That EDA grant, which is complemented with $ 375,000 in local funding, is set to create 35 jobs, Gallegos said.

“I am proud to work with the mayor and all of the trustees to secure the funding of legal capital expenditures for the Dos Lagos project,” said Gallegos, majority leader in the New Mexico House of Representatives. “Having a campus that will be an economic engine for the city of Anthony and the surrounding communities will be a critical factor for this area. If we want our children to stay and help build this community, it is important that there are economic and leisure opportunities for them. “

“We are building a future for our children and their children for Anthony, Berino, Vado and all of southern Doña Ana County,” said Gallegos.
