Carol Kapan Obituary (2022) – Rancho Santa Fe, CA

Carol Silverspare Kapan
September 23, 1931 – January 8, 2022
Rancho Santa Fe
Heaven has a new angel! Our mother, Grammy, aunt, mother-in-law, sister and friend Carol Silverspare Kapan has passed down to the Lord with dignity.
Carol was born on September 23, 1931 in Santa Monica, California and had the most interesting and wonderful life she said. From her teenage years through her mid-30s, Carol worked in print, radio, catwalk, and television modeling. She was blessed to be loved by the camera as much as she loved her. She toured South America, Cuba, New Zealand, Australia, Europe and the United States and modeled Rosemary Reid swimsuits. She modeled for Queen on a radio / television show for a little over 11 years until she had their second child, Christopher.
She was married to Kay Anders for over 50 years, then to Arnold J, Kapan and was the mother / stepmother of six children, Arnie Jr., Eric, Michelle, Kipp, Chris and Claudette. She lived in Pacific Palisades, CA for most of her life and then moved to Rancho Santa Fe for nearly 30 years, eventually settling in her “dream home” in Encinitas for the final year, watching the ocean watch the sun go down every day watch and look for whales.
She worked with several charities of her choice, the John Tracy Clinic in Los Angeles (for the hearing impaired), the Sonance Group in Los Angeles (supports the Howard House Institute for the hearing impaired) and finally Las Duanas in Rancho Santa Fe (helping with a home for find homeless children). She presided over the John Tracy, organized tennis tournaments and of course was always a role model for fashion shows that collect donations. For all of us she was just … “Mama”.
Throughout her life, she honored everyone she met with a wink and a smile on her face. She was a “second mother” to so many friends of her children. She traveled to wonderful places in life with Arnie, and her favorites were still La Jolla Beach and Tennis Club, Mammoth Mountain for skiing and always, always, Mauna Kea Beach Hotel, which was the special place for her and Arnie.
Carol left this world when she entered it with a smile, dignity, a big heart and love.
Services for Carol will be held at the Village Church in Rancho Santa Fe, CA, 6225 Paseo Delicias Road on January 14, 2022 at 1:00 p.m., followed by a reception.
She leaves behind her children Kipp and his wife Liz, Chris and his wife Tamara and their children Nicole and Shane, Claudette and her husband Alan and their daughters Chloe and Lauren, their step sons Arnie Junior and Eric and her brother Dave Silversparre and his wife Myra and their children.
She will really miss everyone who knew her.
