City Museum examines reactions to famous works of art

Bulletin report

The Las Cruces Museum of Art (MOA) will host a guest lecture with Dan Hill, Ph.D., Tuesday, November 9, 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., at the MOA, 491 N. Main St., while Hill will discuss the use of scientific tools, to provide objective, quantifiable ways to understand the images that grab and don’t grab our attention, the city of Las Cruces said in a press release.

Hill’s “First Blush” presentation relies on face coding to capture and identify people’s quick emotional reactions to famous works of art in real time, the press release said.

Hill is an internationally recognized expert on the role of emotions in politics, business, sports and popular culture, according to the city.

Masks and social distancing are required during the presentation.
