Ledes from the Land of Enchantment

Credit union collects more than 900 toys for kids

Nusenda Credit Union hosted a toy drive in partnership with the University of New Mexico Children’s Hospital and Jardin de los Niños, collecting more than 900 toys and $2,400 in monetary contributions to children in need over Christmas, according to a news release.

“Nusenda employees demonstrate dedication to their communities year-round,” said Nusenda President and Chief Executive Officer Joe Christian. “The holidays can be difficult for many families, especially those with loved ones facing health challenges. We hope that these toys and donations bring comfort and a little joy to children in need.”

The UNM Children’s Hospital is the only Children’s Miracle Network hospital in the state and serves more than 60,000 children each year, the release states.

Jardin de los Niños is a trauma-informed care center nonprofit in Las Cruces working with children 6 weeks to 10 years old providing early childhood education, therapeutic intervention and services to homeless and near-homeless children and their families.
