The El Paso Museum of History will host a posada with dancer, author, educator and noted El Pasoan Rosa Guerrero from 11 am to 3 pm Saturday. Guerrero will kick off the event with a talk about the cultural significance of Posadas and then guests can enjoy free crafts, champurrado and aguinaldos to take home while supplies last. Guerrero also wants to sign and sell her book on Las Posadas tradition.

Enjoy a Winter Holiday Parade of Lights from 6 to 10 p.m. Saturday at the San Elizario chapel plaza. The parade will begin on Socorro Road at Chicken Ranch and proceed to San Elizario Road to the church plaza. The event will include a piñata, food, music, dancing and the arrival of Santa Claus.

Take a Holiday Sweater Stroll

Live Active and the Border Coalition for Fitness are hosting a fun Holiday Sweater Stroll from 2 to 4 pm Saturday at San Jacinto Plaza. Join in the walk and enjoy the themed event.

Holiday Brunch at Ambar

The Ambar Lobby Bar is one of the main features inside the renovated Plaza Hotel Pioneer Park.

The Plaza Hotel at Pioneer Park will have a holiday brunch with Santa and the Grinch at Ambar from 10 am to 3 pm Saturday and Sunday. Guests are invited to bring a toy to donate to the Lee & Beulah Moor Children’s Home. Brunch costs $50 for adults, and $25 for children ages 4-12. Reservations can be made by calling 915-440-0051.

Holiday film festival to show free movies

El Paso families can enjoy free holiday movies at the Plaza Theater. The film series, sponsored by GECU and presented by the El Paso Community Foundation Plaza Classic Film Festival, is part of El Paso Live’s WinterFest. New Mexico Farm & Heritage Museum to host holiday event

The New Mexico Farm & Ranch Heritage Museum in Las Cruces will have a holiday event, Farm-La-La from 4 to 7 pm Tuesday at the museum, 4100 Dripping Springs Road in Las Cruces. Families can take trolley rides across the bridge and around the lighted, 47-acre campus, take part in fun activities, watch the children ride the ponies, tour the exhibits and galleries, and enjoy hot chocolate, s’mores, and even ice cream . Admission to the event is $5 per family. The pony rides for children are $5 per ride. The trolley rides and other activities are free with admission. Some of the activities include making marshmallow snowmen and Christmas tree ornaments.

‘Teatro Bridge’ brings Mexican plays to Toma Gallery

Daniela Gutiérrez will star in a play at Toma Gallery and Studios as Mexican theater makes its way to El Paso.

Mexican theater makes its way to the border this holiday season. Toma Gallery and Studios, 210 Poplar St., will host three evenings of original plays by Mexican playwrights in a “Teatro Bridge.” The play “El Caiman y Los Sapos” follows two young women who go down a dark path, but dream of getting out and following their dreams. “Confesiones de Una Telefonista Erotica” is about a young woman who dreams of being an actress, but falls into an undesired profession in order to be able to make a living. “La Lista” is about a woman who befriends a mother with many children, who then takes custody of the children after the mother’s passing. The plays are in Spanish and for mature audiences only. Doors open one hour before showtime. Limited seating is available and tickets may be purchased online at https://www.tomagallerystudios.art/events-one; Tickets are $15 per day or $40 for a three-day pass. The schedule is: 7 pm Friday, “La Lista,” 1 hour, 10 minutes; 7 pm Saturday, “El Caiman y Los Sapos,” 1 hour, 30 minutes; 6 pm Sunday, “Confesiones de Telefonista Erotica,” 1 hour.

Music live stream, wrap party to help children

Genuine References Studio (GRS) is partnering with Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of El Paso to raise awareness for the children helped by the nonprofit. GRS will work with local music acts Krystall Poppin, Kikimora, Feline Fox and others to create a live stream of music performances to raise funds and a toy drive for the charity. A toy-drive wrap party will be held at the El Paso Community Foundation room, 333 N. Oregon St., from 4 to 7 pm Monday. People can meet the musicians, the production team, and representatives from CASA. Raffles will be available to further support local businesses; toys or donations will be accepted as admission.
