Explora offers projects for young adults

ALBUQUERQUE, NM (KRQE) – Explora is preparing for another expansion. Her latest and greatest plans can accommodate everyone from preschoolers to young adults. As phase one of its overarching project “Cradle through Career” is about to be completed, Explora is looking to its next and so far largest project.

“Phase one is called X-Studio and is a development center for young workers. This is an 8,000 square foot building and we hope construction will be completed in late spring, early summer, ”said Nyra Klawer, Capital Campaign Manager at Explora.

Nyra Klawer says the $ 10 million “Brillante” project is partly a science, technology, engineering, and math or STEAM-based preschool. Brillante will also be a place for young adults pursuing careers in early childhood education.

“To help teachers really figure out other ways to bring this to life in their own classrooms … so this is going to be a place that can really encourage these activities,” said Klawer.

Campus Brillante is being built across from Explora next to the Natural History Museum, which is currently rented to Array Technologies. It’s currently still in the planning stages, but Klawer expects it to serve at least 125 preschoolers and have ten classrooms.

“There is currently a lot of movement in early childhood education in our state and we really feel that this will give us a lot more momentum for this phase of the project,” said Klawer.

Explora has already raised $ 1 million for Brilliant, but they need $ 10 million. They believe that fundraising will take around three to four years, so they’ll likely break ground for Brillante in late 2024 or early 2025.
