LAS CRUCES, NM – Fans hoping to catch NM State baseball at Presley Askew Field in 2022 will be able to do so more often than not.

On Wednesday afternoon, NM State’s third year head coach Mike Kirby unveiled the Aggies’ 2022 slate. The Aggies plan to build on a 20-34 campaign in 2021 – Kirby’s first full season as a bank chief for NM State.

The Aggies’ homely 2022 slate includes 31 competitions within the confines of Presley Askew Field in Las Cruces, as well as 20 inclines on the road. All but four of the Aggies ‘home games will be played as part of a three-day weekend series (Friday-Sunday) and each of the team’s first 12 games will be played at The’ Skew, starting with three consecutive series without a conference.

Illinois-Chicago (February 18-20), Oakland (February 25-27), and Prairie View A&M (March 4-6) will all be making trips to Las Cruces and serving nine of the 18 non-conference battles in the Have aggies form on their slate in 2022. NM State completes a stretch of four consecutive home series to kick off the season by hosting Seattle U (March 11-13) to begin the action of the Western Athletic Conference (WAC).

NM State’s first WAC road series of the season at Dixie State (March 18-20) is preceded by a two-game midweek in Nebraska (March 15-16). After that street sweep of five games – the team’s longest run of real street games during the season – the Aggies return for a home series with California Baptist (25 state rivals New Mexico (March 29).

Eleven of NM State’s 19 games in April will be at The ‘Skew, but this month kicks off with a three-game WAC in Grand Canton (April 1-3). Another home game against New Mexico (April 5) takes place before a WAC home series of three games against Sacramento State (April 8-10). The Aggies’ second fight against the Lobos is the starting point of a route in which eight of the team’s nine games will be played at home. The only street game during this period is a midweek competition in Pac-12 enemy Arizona (April 12).

Returning from Tucson, NM State is hosting UTRGV (April 15-17) for a three-game WAC series and concluding a series of four consecutive home games with a non-conference title against Benedictine Mesa (April 19). After a WAC series in Seattle U (April 22-24), NM State is returning home at the end of the month and welcoming Arizona (April 26) midweek. NM State’s penultimate home WAC series of the year follows this weekend, when the Aggies welcome Dixie State to The ‘Skew from April 29 to May 1.

May is the month when the Aggies will be out the most, as eight of the team’s twelve games will be played outside of Las Cruces. These include a four-game stretch at California Baptist (May 6-8) and the first duel between the state of NM and New Mexico in Albuquerque, NM (May 10). For the last home series of the Aggies season, they host Grand Canyon (May 13-15), before continuing the regular season with another single game in New Mexico (May 17) and a WAC series in the Utah Valley (May 19-21) ).

Should the Aggies make the cut for the 2022 WAC tournament, they will travel to Mesa, Arizona to compete in the league’s postseason issue May 25-28.
