Las Cruces girls, Centennial boys each seeded No. 2 in big school playoffs

LAS CRUCES – The New Mexico high school soccer playoffs open on Tuesday with first-round matchups across the state.

The Las Cruces girls, and the Centennial boys were each seeded No. 2 in their respective Class 5A brackets on Sunday and will receive first-round byes.

First round, quarterfinals and semifinals are at host sites with the girls big school final scheduled for Nov. 5 at 11 am, at Cleveland High School. The boys big school final is Nov. 5 at 1:30 pm, at Cleveland.

The Las Cruces girls finished the season 19-0-1 with the draw coming against Mayfield in district play. The Bulldawgs will play the winner of Tuesday’s match between No. 7 Albuquerque and No. 10 Santa Fe in the quarterfinals this weekend. The Organ Mountain girls were seeded No. 11 and will play at No. 6 Sandia on Tuesday at 6 pm

In Class 4A, the Santa Teresa girls were seeded No. 9 and will play at No. 8 Silver at 4 pm, on Tuesday with the winner playing at No. 1 Hope Christian.

The Centennial boys will host the winner of Tuesday’s first round game between No. 7 Gadsden and No. 10 Atrisco Heritage. The Organ Mountain boys were seeded No. 8 and will host no. 9 Sandia at 6 pm, on Tuesday at the Field of Dreams Soccer Complex.

In the Class 4A boys bracket, Santa Teresa was seeded No. 9 and will play at No. 8 Artesia at 6:30 pm, on Tuesday with the winner traveling to top-seeded Lovington in the quarterfinals. The Hatch Valley boys were seeded No. 2 in the Class A-3A playoffs and will host No. 7 New Mexico Military Institute on Friday at 4 pm
