Las Cruces’ Ruby Tuesday is under renovation; get a terrace

LAS CRUCES – Las Crucens may have noticed that construction is looming on Telshor Boulevard as Ruby Tuesday restaurant gets an indoor upgrade and outdoor terrace.

Ruby Tuesday has been part of Las Cruces’ dining scene since 2006, the last upgrade being completed about five years ago. Since they opened, they have consistently been among the ten most successful franchises within the chain.

Owner Johnnie Giovengo said the remodel was scheduled for last year but the COVID-19 pandemic had found its way into New Mexico and delayed plans. The first phase of the renovation, which includes the interior, should be completed by August 15th.

Ervina Adams from Decorating Den Interiors has been hired as an interior designer. Changes include a new layout, flooring, bar top, televisions, finishes, and more.

During a renovation on Ruby Tuesday in Las Cruces on Thursday, July 22, 2021, trucks are parked in the parking lot.

“We’re trying to just make it nice and do it in a way Cruces has never seen before,” said Giovengo.

Parts of the interior will be completed at the same time to enable the restaurant to operate, but with reduced capacity. Two thirds of the restaurant are always open.

The second renovation phase, the outdoor terrace, should be completed by the end of the year. Giovengo said it will be on the south side of the building and will be 15 meters long and 9 meters deep.

Roberto Chavez will be working on the floor and skirting boards at Ruby Tuesday in Las Cruces on Thursday, July 22nd, 2021.

They’re also getting the community involved by running a competition to name the courtyard. People can cast their votes online at rtlascruces.com. The winner will receive free meals for one year.

The winner will receive 12 vouchers worth $ 50 for the Las Cruces restaurant for a full year of dining. A winner will be announced by email on September 30th.

The original plan was to add a second floor to the restaurant, but approval would have required extensive changes, Giovengo said. This plan is being put on hold for the time being.
