Ledes from the Land of Enchantment

Las Cruces Showcase of Homes starts this weekend. Here’s a preview.

LAS CRUCES – The annual Showcase of Homes returns to Las Cruces this weekend, with 11 homes accessible.

The event, hosted each year by the Las Cruces Home Builders Association, is a very popular outing for both locals and visitors. The showcase usually takes place in the spring but has been canceled due to the uncertainty surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 and postponed until autumn this year.

Nicole Black, executive officer of the LCHBA, said that typically about 30 houses are featured each year. This year there are only 11 apartments on the list, as the stock is low due to the high demand for apartments.

“Now that we have (the storefront) back in the fall and we know we can make the builders succeed, it was great,” said Black.

The Showcase of Homes takes place on two weekends – 17.-19. September and 24-26. September – and the houses can be viewed on Fridays from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sundays from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. A Twilight Tour of select homes is scheduled for Friday, September 24th from 7pm to 9pm.

A publication with information on each house and the property development association itself is available for collection at the association office in 2825 N. Main St.

COVID safe practices require people to wear face masks indoors.
