Las Cruces Veterans Day Parade is Saturday November 6th

The 26th annual Las Cruces Veterans Day Parade takes place on Saturday, November 6th, 2021 at 11 a.m. in downtown Las Cruces.

The parade will take place on the corner of Main Street and Lohman Avenue, head north on Main Street to the roundabout near City Hall, and head south on Water Street back to the parade area.

The theme of this year’s parade is “Honoring the Korean War Veterans”.

The parade review booth is located at the intersection of Main Street and Las Cruces Avenue. This is where the medals are handed over to the Grand Marshal.

The opening ceremony is scheduled for 10:30 am at the parade review booth. People with sensitive hearing should be aware that this is also the area where a cannon will be fired to mark the start of the parade.

People are also reminded that firing cannons is just blank spaces heralding the start of the parade and is not an emergency.

To accommodate the Veterans Day Parade, Main Street and the streets that join the Parade Route will be closed at 6 a.m. on Saturday. Parking will be available in the parking lot south of El Paso Electric, Doña Ana County Court Complex, Thomas Branigan Library, City Hall, and multiple parking lots on the east side of downtown between Main and Church Streets.

In addition, the Las Cruces farmers and handicraft market is open on Sunday 7th November from 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

On Veterans Day, the city’s garrison flag is hoisted in Veterans Memorial Park on Roadrunner Parkway. The big flag will be hoisted on Thursday, November 11th, 2021 at 8 a.m. and lowered again at 5 p.m.

Volunteers are welcome to help Las Cruces and veterans from southern New Mexico raise and lower the flag. There are no official ceremonies.
