Lawrence Trujillo Obituary (1953-2021) – Pampa, TX

Lawrence Edward “Larry” Trujillo, Jr., 68, of Hereford, died on December 16, 2021 in the pampas.
Services will be announced at a later date. Preparations are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematorium.
Larry was born on January 22, 1953 in Raton, NM to Mary and Lawrence Trujillo. Sr. Larry grew up in a military family and grew up moving to the United States and abroad. After high school, Larry, like many in his family, joined the military and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. While in the Marines, Larry was part of their avionics team and was responsible for the safe landings of aircraft on land and water. Larry would retire from the Corps after 22 years of service. After leaving the military, Larry enrolled in college and attended Arizona Western College. After graduating from college, Larry worked as an environmental specialist in Farmington, NM for several years. Larry continued with the Marine Corp as an instructor for the Marine Corp Reserve Officer Training Corp for high schools in Farmington New Mexico, Lorena, and Hereford Texas. Larry took great pride in supporting and training his student.
Despite resigning from the military, Larry was always close to the armed forces and the people who had served. He was an active member of the VFW and the Patriot Guard and helped with many funeral escorts for other veterans. Larry was a talented man who was very good with his hands, his family called him their “MacGyver” and he could fix anything and improvise with all the tools available. Larry married Betty Jean Wilson on June 18, 2009, and they shared several good years before she preceded him in death on April 18, 2020. Larry will be remembered as a giving man who puts others before himself, and he is greatly missed by his family and friends.
In death he is preceded by his father Lawrence E. Trujillo SR; Wife Betty J. Trujillo; and a brother, Adolfo Trujillo.
Larry leaves behind son Jude Lawrence Trujillo of Springer, NM; two daughters, Terri Marie Trujillo-Black from Raton, NM, and Tonia Trujillo from Panama, Fl; his mother, Mary Trujillo of Pueblo CO; three sisters, Fatimah Backush, CO, Jo ‘Trujillo-Oates, both from Pueblo, CO, and Bernadette Blevins from Milliken, CO; two brothers, Robert Trujillo and wife Betsy from Yuma, AZ and Victor Trujillo and wife Mary Diane von Kempner Tx; one granddaughter, Brandy Doss Panama City, FL; two grandchildren, Bailey Trujillo and Gerald Trujillo from Australia; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other extended families.
