Ledes from the Land of Enchantment

Levi Wayne Slavin Obituary (1993-2021) – Farmington, NM

Levi Wayne Slavin, 28, of Aztec, New Mexico, died in Farmington, New Mexico on August 27, 2021. He was born to mother Lyn West Nelson and Father Jack Slavin, both from Aztec, New Mexico.
Levi’s job was a mechanic, but his passions were his 1993 Nissan truck and 2002 Subaru car, both of which he could turbo-charge, the louder and faster the better. There wasn’t much to see on the outside, but there were real gems under the hood. Levi spent so much time working on both with his friends. He loved to race or just to play.
Levi loved building with blocks and Legos from an early age and developed into RC cars and electronics. He learned that with all the things he tore up, he could build something new.
Levi was always a daredevil, when Jackass came out, his older brother Ricky and friends caught up with him. Levi always seemed to get the best footage because he was so fearless when it came to various stunts. A bike or skateboard was never built that could withstand the many jumps and wrecks, but Levi was able to take pieces of different parts and build a new one.
He loved playing Skip-Bo and baking cookies with his grandma Ray, who won and of course received the cookie award. He loved coming to the nanny’s home to cook and always said his nanny was the best cook.
Levi had such a kind heart, always wanted to please and was always available to help with anything. He loved hanging out with friends, loved children, animals, and took in strays, just like his cat Athena.
He loved planting a garden every year and would always help his papa with it. Levi has always grown the biggest tomatoes. He loved his plants and flowers and had such a green thumb.
Levi was his mother’s rock, they talked, laughed, cried and loved everything. They loved listening to Ol Dirty Bastard together and he laughed because mom knew all the words.
Levi attended Aztec schools and went on to the New Mexico Youth Challenge Academy, where Levi excelled and received the Commandants Award. He’s made some wonderful friends, including one he’s been friends with since middle school, Cody Evans. All of his friends were so much a part of his life and were there through good times and bad.
He was built on hard work and enjoyed helping others. Even in death, he was able to help five other people survive through the organ donation program.
Levi is survived by his mother, Lyn West Nelson; Father Jack Slavin; Brother Ricky Rascon; Grandparents Jim and Pat West; Sisters Jordan Slavin, Brooke Johnson, and brother Ted Johnson; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Levi preceded his niece Blayne Rascon in death; best friend Ramon Martinez; Grandparents Bob and Lone Slavin; Great grandparents Rankin and Margie Ray and Wayne and Mildred West.
The Slavin and West families would like to thank everyone at the San Juan Regional Medical Center in Farmington, New Mexico for their immense help and dedication during this difficult time.
The family requests that all donations go to New Mexico Donor Services.
