The lighting renovations for the Women Veterans Monument in Veterans Memorial Park are complete. The lighting improvements highlight six sculptures depicting female military personnel honoring their country in each of the major conflicts from World War I to the 1991 desert storm.
Uplights shine on each of the sculptures, showing the traditional uniforms for women in each of the branches of the U.S. military. The lighting also highlights the memorial plaque recognizing the dedication of the United Military Women of the Southwest, who initiated the project, worked with the architect to complete the final design, and received support and financial commitments to build the memorial .
The Women Veterans Monument provides a place for members of the public to honor U.S. Veterans while appreciating the sculptures and the service workers they represent. Veterans Memorial Park is located at 1251 N. Roadrunner Parkway and is open to the public daily morning through evening.
