Louis William Shocklee was born October 2, 1935 in Village, Arkansas. They moved to California when he was 6 years old. The pipeline took the family through 12 states in 7 years. He did go back and graduate high school in Village Arkansas.
December of 1953 Louis and his dad were working pipeline construction for El Paso Natural Gas Co. Their boss just happened to have a beautiful daughter that he fell in love with. He married Myrna Edgar in March of 1954.
The next two years he worked on pipeline construction and oilfield and they moved through New Mexico, Arizona, Texas, and Colorado. They moved into the El Paso Natural Gas camp, Bluewater station in 1956. This is where they started their family of 3 children. They were married for 50 years.
They moved to Kemmerer, Wyoming in 1953. In 1964 they moved to Kirtland, New Mexico into San Juan River Camp. They stayed in Kirtland, and he retired in 1989.
Louis loved the outdoors. He spent any time that he had off hunting, fishing, and camping with his family. He enjoyed his horses and was a “cowboy” in every sense of the word.
There were very few trails or roads in New Mexico or Colorado that he hasn’t hiked, rode or hunted. Of all the years that he hunted, he very seldom came home empty handed.
He had a personal relationship with his creator and his happiest times were spending time in the Lords creation.
After the loss of his oldest son, he no longer had an interest in hunting and replaced that time with riding his Gold-wing motorcycle and joined the Christian Motorcycle Club. At 86 years old you may have seen him riding around town with his 02 tank in tow. He only took off his cowboy hat to put on his motorcycle helmet. He made many lifelong friends in the motorcycle club that he spoke of often.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Guilford Carl Shocklee and Fannie Garvis Shocklee, as well as his oldest son Jerry Alan Shocklee.
He is survived by his daughter, Linda Beevers and her husband Lonnie Beevers, Jeff Shocklee and his wife Niqui Shocklee, daughter-in-law Joi Shocklee Stratton and her husband Kim Stratton.
Grandchildren Mike Beevers, Mandy Beevers, Marc Beevers, Jerica Deslaurier, Whitney Rigdon, Sabreena Martin, Kyle Stratton, Nicole Mallula, Jacob Shocklee and Shaylee Shocklee. There are 14 great grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held Friday April 15, 2022 at 10:00am located at Farmington Funeral Home 2111 W. Apache St. Farmington, New Mexico.
