Man riding motorcycle dies in crash on Elks Drive in north Las Cruces

LAS CRUCES – A man was killed Friday night in a motorcycle crash on Elks Drive, according to the Las Cruces Police Department.

Police say they received a call at 9:22 pm Friday, May 6, regarding a crash involving a vehicle and a motorcycle. The preliminary investigation indicates that a vehicle facing westbound on Lenox Avenue was stopped at the stop sign at the intersection of Elks Drive. The vehicle entered Elks, and the man driving the motorcycle northbound on Elks struck the side of the vehicle.

The motorcyclist appears to have been struck by a second vehicle traveling southbound on Elks, according to LCPD Det. Frank Torres. Both vehicles remained on scene. The motorcyclist, described only as a male in his mid-30s, died at the scene.

Police say the crash remains under investigation. No arrests were made, but citations are pending, Torres said.
