Motorcyclist dead after accident in southwest Albquerque »

ALBUQUERQUE, NM – A motorcyclist was killed in an accident on the West Side early Saturday morning.

Albuquerque Police Department spokeswoman Rebecca Atkins said the crash occurred around 2 a.m. near the intersection of 98th St. SW and Tower Road SW. She said the motorcyclist was driving north off Tower Road on 98th Street when the driver rammed a T-bone four-door sedan as it turned east towards Demi Road. NS.

Atkins said the motorcyclist was thrown off his motorcycle. He did not wear a helmet, suffered severe head trauma and died in the hospital. The occupants of the limousine stayed on site and gave their statements to an officer.

“At this point, it doesn’t appear that alcohol was a factor … it appears that the speed of the motorcycle and improper driving were a factor in the accident,” she said.
