New Mexico United new players

ALBUQUERQUE, NM (KRQE) – New Mexico United are signing two new players for the 2022 season. Defender Alexi Souahy and striker Tabort Etaka Preston are the last to join the team this week after a few earlier off-season moves.

Souahy joins United from Louisville City FC, where he has spent the past four seasons including a USL championship in 2018. Born in Montreuil, France, he attended Bowling Green State University before turning pro. Prior to joining Louisville City, Souahy spent some time with the Michigan Bucks of the USL League Two in 2016 and 2017.

The defender has scored five pro goals and set up five more, but he believes he is capable of a lot more. “We had similar ideas and thoughts from talking to coach Prince about the way we are going to play next year,” said Souahy. “The way he wants us to play fits the way I play very well, so I’m really looking forward to it.”

Preston is joining United for his fifth season in professional football. Prior to United, Preston spent some time in the Albanian Premier League, as well as in the USL championship clubs Las Vegas Lights and Hartford Athletic. He also played for the Cameroonian U-20 national team and made three appearances in the 2017 U-20 Africa Cup.
