NM State to Host Benedictine Mesa on Tuesday Night

LAS CRUCES, NM – Looking to bounce back after a pair of losses, the NM State baseball team will play host to Benedictine Mesa on Tuesday night at Presley Askew Field. Brendon Rodriguez wants to get the ball for his first start of the season for NM State.


  • NM State is 4-0 all-time against Benedictine Mesa, including a 2-0 record in 2021. Brandon Dieter homered in both games last season against the Redhawks.
  • This season, Gunner Antillon is hitting .437, which would rank second nationally. Antillon’s .533 on-base percentage would rank fifth nationally.
  • Kevin Jimenez leads the Aggies with 13 doubles on the season. Antillon and Preston Godfrey split the team lead with three triples apiece.
  • The Aggies are 11-4 this season when outhitting the opponent or matching hit totals.
  • NM State boasts an 8-3 record when holding their opponent to five runs or less.
  • When scoring first, NM State has a 12-6 record in 2022.


  • The Redhawks boast a 26-21 record overall in 2022. In conference play, the Redhawks are 12-9 this season.
  • Tuesday’s contest will be the first of the season against a Division I opponent for Benedictine Mesa.
  • Orlando Lorduy leads Benedictine Mesa with a .394 batting average in 47 games played. Lorduy has picked up 25 extra-base hits this year, including seven triples.
  • The Redhawks come into the midweek meeting riding a two-game winning streak.
