The Las Cruces volleyball fell to La Cueva in four sets in the Class 5A state championship match on Saturday at the Rio Rancho Events Center.
The Bulldawgs reached the final without losing a match, defeating Cibola 25-15, 21-25, 25-22, 25-18 in the semifinals on Saturday.
Top seeded La Cueva beat the Bulldawgs 25-20, 18-25, 25-17, 25-19 in the big school final.
Las Cruces advanced to the Class 5A Final Four after sweeping Sandia 26-24, 25-10, 25-16 on Thursday. Las Cruces beat Cleveland 25-19, 25-18, 16-25, 26-24 on Friday.
Centennial opened the tournament with a 25-21, 25-13, 12-25, 25-21 win over Rio Rancho on Thursday. The Hawks dropped into the loser’s side of the bracket with a four-set loss to La Cueva on Friday before losing to Cibola in four in an elimination match on Friday night.
