LANCASTER, Pennsylvania – The Washington and Lee swim team finished fourth in the final two days of championship races at the Franklin & Marshall Invitational on Saturday and Sunday.

Highlights from the meeting:

-F & M won the Invitational with a total of 1,613 points, followed by Mount St. Mary’s (1,402.5), Mary Washington (1,246.5), W&L (1,111) and Shippensburg (853) in the top 5. Ramapo (537), Montclair State (433), York (Pa.) (407) and Saint Vincent (185) completed the field of teams.

– The generals were led by Bennett Ehret (Stamford, Conn. / Westhill) and first grader Devin Bateman (Fredericksburg, Virginia / Stafford) on day two and three. Ehret was fourth in the 200 fly (1: 57.34) and fifth in the 400 IM (4: 16.74), while Bateman took third place in the 200 fly (1: 57.05).

-Bateman also helped the 200 layer relay (1: 34.67) and the 400th free relay (3: 09.85) to fifth place. He was ranked by first grader Matt Fritz (Reston, Virginia / South Lakes), senior Steve Warren (Westfield, NJ / Westfield) and first grader Baxter Smelzer (Greensboro, NC / Page) in the 200 layer relay and the second time Malachi. supports Eberly (Reading, PA / Wilson), first graders Luke Nagel (Wayne, PA / Conestoga) and Junior Dawson Kramer (Taylors, SC / Eastside) on the 400 layer relay.

– First grader Stephen Ewing (Las Cruces, NM / Las Cruces) rounded off the top 5 placements for W&L on the weekend with a fifth place in the 1650 Free (16: 55.14) on Sunday.
