The number of early elections in the Las Cruces region is falling sharply compared to the local elections in 2019

LAS CRUCES, NM – Election day for the second regular local election in Doña Ana County is getting closer. Registered voters are encouraged to visit one of 40 voting centers across the county on November 2nd. All centers are open from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

“Our office continues to work hard to ensure that the voting experience is a smooth one for all registered voters,” said District Secretary Amanda López Askin. “We have seen a steady increase in early voting over the past week and we are hoping for a busy election day.”

Today was the last day to vote ahead of time and register for the regular local elections in 2021. Unofficial participation figures to date reflect around 5,271 early voters and 739 postal votes.

On October 31st and November 1st there is no possibility to vote in person. Registered voters who have requested a postal vote can still vote by mail at any of the available secure container locations throughout the county, as well as at any of the Voting Convenience Centers on election day. Voters can track the status of their postal voting online at NMVote.org.

In the state’s first regular local elections in 2019, around 7,100 voters personally cast their votes during the early voting phase in Doña Ana County.

The unofficial results of this year’s election will be available on Election Day, November 2, after 7:00 p.m. on the New Mexico Secretary of State’s website: www.sos.state.nm.us. All results remain unofficial until later confirmed by the state election committee in November.
