Water outage planned for McFie construction project

LAS CRUCES, NM – Residents on the following streets in the city will experience a water outage from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 16, 2021.

The streets include:

  • Second Street, from McFie Avenue to Van Patten Avenue.
  • Brownlee Avenue, from First Street to Second Street.
  • Van Patten Avenue, from First Street to Second Street.
  • McFie Avenue, from First Street to Second Street.

The water outage will allow Morrow Enterprises to complete the water connections as part of the McFie Avenue rebuilding project.

Adjacent areas can also be affected by the failure. If the water is to be turned off on your street, the city staff will put up a door hanger at least 24 hours in advance.

Once service is restored, residents may notice discolored water due to iron, manganese, and calcium deposits. Although the water is potable, city officials recommend that you wait until the water is clear before washing your laundry.

The discoloration should go away within 24 hours. If not, residents should flush all of the faucets in their home for five minutes. If the discoloration persists, call the city at 575 / 526-0500 for assistance. The TTY phone number is 575 / 541-2182.
