Albuquerque Metro leads southwest cities in receiving COVID-19 vaccinations – City of Albuquerque

September 8, 2021

The Albuquerque metropolitan area now leads the southwestern metropolitan areas, where 80.9% of the population are receiving at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine. According to the CDC and Johns Hopkins University, the Albuquerque Metro’s strong vaccination rates are followed by the Denver Metro with 80.8% vaccination, El Paso with 71% and Los Angeles with 61.3%. Other major metropolitan areas in the southwest, including Salt Lake City, Oklahoma City, Tucson, Phoenix, and Austin, have vaccinated less than 60% of their residents with at least one dose.

“By providing access and information, we have encouraged Albuquerque residents to take the shot and protect themselves, their families and our communities,” said Mayor Tim Keller. “We are grateful that so many have worked to ensure that our city remains one of the healthiest in the southwest. It’s free and easy to get vaccinated, you can get one today. “
