Albuquerque youth wanted twin murders in Denver. arrested

ALBUQUERQUE, NM (AP) – A 16-year-old youth wanted in a double homicide in Albuquerque was arrested in Denver.

The youth was wanted in the shooting of Aerial Mallam, 21, and Jessica Casaus Lucero, 31, in an apartment complex on January 27, in which a third person was shot and wounded, Albuquerque police said late Thursday.

According to Albuquerque Police, the youth exchanged shots with a fourth person when the youth tried unsuccessfully to take a vehicle.

The youth was injured, but fled, the police said.

The youth was interviewed by police after being hospitalized by his father, gave conflicting statements and then asked for a lawyer, the reported.

The youth was released from the hospital and it was not clear if he was ever arrested by police before an arrest warrant was issued against him in double homicide, the Journal reported.

Police said the youth was charged with murder, armed robbery, aggravated assault, child molestation and manipulation of evidence.

Online court records do not list an attorney for the juvenile to comment on the allegations.

The Associated Press generally does not identify juvenile defendants.
