Ledes from the Land of Enchantment

Charles Myers Obituary (1956-2021) – Albuquerque, NM

Kip Myers, 65, died early Tuesday morning September 21 after a four-year battle with cancer. He fought bravely to the end.

Kip was born in Farmington, New Mexico, to Chester “Arley” and Wanda “Alby” (Clements) Myers. He attended Kirtland Central High School and received a Bachelor of Economics / Business from Arizona State University. After graduating from college, he worked in an orphanage in Mexico, which gave him the opportunity to speak fluent Spanish and be a servant of God. He then worked with his father in the family business and decided to move to Albuquerque in 1986. He became a general contractor building bespoke homes in Bosque Farms, Albuquerque, East Mountains, and Rio Rancho. He made wonderful friends with many of his subcontractors.

He is survived by his wife Lori of 32 years; Son Ryan (Amanda), son Nicolas (Ashley), and son Brennan; Sister Peggy Soria, Sister Arla Pope (Randal) and brother-in-law Kip Hohenberg (Johnna); Brother-in-law John Givens (Christina) and Richard Givens (Peggy); Sister-in-law Kelli Lemken (Billy); 20 nieces and nephews and 41 great nieces and nephews; as well as many cousins, other family members, and many, many friends.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Chester and Jeanetta Myers, his maternal grandparents Lucius and Corrella Clements, sister Gretchen Hohenberg, nephew Reggie Hohenberg and many other aunts, uncles and cousins.

When not building houses, he spent his time training his sons and many others in baseball, basketball, and soccer. He was a great servant of God and volunteered his time to study the Bible for middle school students and organize services for his sons and their classmates.

With his unique and shrewd sense of humor, he brought constant joy and laughter into everyone’s life. He particularly focused on the youth and taught them through sports and service. He left a lasting, positive impression on everyone who met him and he will be missed by many.

On Tuesday evening, September 28th, there will be a prayer service for him from 7pm at French’s Funeral Home on Lomas – 10500 Lomas Blvd NE, Albuquerque, NM 87112. The funeral mass will take place on Wednesday, September 29th at 10am in Our Lady of. held Annunciation Parish – 2532 Vermont St NE, Albuquerque, NM 87110, with an outdoor reception at 200 Cottonwood Court NW, 87107.
