Las Cruces approves contract for playground rehabilitation project in Unidad Park

LAS CRUCES – Las Cruces City Council, at its November 15th session, approved a $ 925,732 contract with Highland Enterprises Inc. of Las Cruces to renew the playground at Unidad Park.

The project will rehabilitate the playground and add a splash pad. The playground on East Hadley Ave. 1500 is expected to retain a similar design, the city previously said, but none of the playground’s elements will continue to be made of wood.

Funded by the city’s general bond issue, the Unidad Park project was one of the many park improvements that Las Cruces voters endorsed during the 2018 GO bond election. The project budget is $ 1.4 million.

For the Unidad Park project, a design-build contract with the architects Dekker, Perich and Sabatini worth 92,500 US dollars was approved in November 2019.

The city estimates that construction work on the project will be completed by April 2022.
