Obituary for Ernestine Estrada (1935 – 2022) – Las Vegas, NM

Ernestine Estrada was reunited in heaven with her 69-year-old husband Gabriel Estrada on January 20, 2022. Ernestine was born on July 29, 1935 to Delia and Frank Gonzales in Watrous, NM. In August of this year, she and Gabriel would have celebrated their 70th anniversary.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Theresa ‘Mouse’ Gonzales, grandson Mark Estrada, and daughter-in-law Vera Estrada.
Survivors include sons and daughters: Eddie Estrada (Elaine) of Las Vegas, NM; David Estrada (viola) from Albuquerque, NM; Suzanne Estrada of Colorado Springs, CO; Rose Marie Wilkerson (Tony) of Canon, TX; Grandchildren: Jeremy (Armida), Gabie (Seth), Delia (Wayne), Miranda (Scott), Amanda (Diego), Messina (Eric), Chance (Danielle) and Evan (Jose), Great-grandchildren: Dyonne, Scotty, Marcus, Nathan, Dominic, Jacob, Maria, Isiah, Cupid, Julian, Bailey (Veronica), Mia, and Amiyah, great-great-grandchildren: Salesi, Isabella, Adonis, and Elena, brother and sister: Frank Gonzales of Santa Fe, NM; Alice Craig from Las Vegas, NM; Brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Mike Estrada of Las Vegas, NM; Viola Jaramillo (Louie) from Little Rock, AK; Alberta Patron of Mesilla Park, NM; Eva Hesseldon of Albuquerque, NM; Landi Santiago of Las Cruces, NM; and Martin Estrada (Tasha) of Franklin, TX; godchildren: Michael John Estrada, Phillip Estrada, Joey Estrada and Martha Pacheco, close friends: Sergio and Shirley Escalante; Cecelia Pena and Theresa Barela, all from Las Vegas, NM; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many other special friends.
Ernestine was the very best cook. She ran the Las Vegas Livestock Auction cafe for several years. She also worked at Gambles, Tops & Bottoms and ran a small shop. Ernestine loved the Farmers Market and Flea Market in Las Vegas. She regularly hosted flea markets when the weather was warmer and loved visiting anyone who came to pick up a bargain. She gave away more than she sold. Her pantry was open to all in need, and her generosity made her a favorite of many. Ernestine enjoyed attending family gatherings and sporting events and was loved by so many.
The public viewing will be on Thursday, January 27 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Rogers Mortuary Chapel in Las Vegas, NM.
The burial service will be held on Friday, January 28, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Trementina Cemetery in Trementina, NM. Bernice Hughes will lead the funeral services. Due to COVID concerns, there will be no gathering after the grave ceremony. Pallbearers will be: Jeremy Estrada, Scott Mountz, Chance Walton, Dominic Martinez, Scotty Mountz, Evan Walton and Julian Read de Estrada.
