The Harjo event at the Rio Grande Theater ends Big Read Las Cruces

LAS CRUCES – For the closing event of Big Read Las Cruces, the Las Cruces Museum System and Thomas Branigan Memorial Library will host US poet award winner Joy Harjo for a poetry reading and book signing at the Rio Grande Theater at 5 p.m. on Saturday, November. 13, 2021.

Harjo will read excerpts from her award-winning book, An American Sunrise, among other excerpts.

This event is free to the public, but spaces are limited and tickets are required. Tickets are available at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/195221461647.

Community members can also visit https://www.las-cruces.org/1617/library and click “Big Read 2021” for information. Due to ongoing efforts to contain COVID-19, masks must be worn by all visitors during the event.

Doors open at 4:00 p.m. and the event starts punctually at 5:00 p.m. After Harjo’s reading, there is a short question-and-answer session, followed by a book signing from 6:15 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

This event is part of Big Read Las Cruces and is made possible by grants from the National Endowment of the Arts in partnership with Arts Midwest, the Foundation for Las Cruces Museums, and the City of Las Cruces.
