LAS CRUCES – Fall is officially here, which means the Southern New Mexico State Fair and Rodeo are just around the corner. Here are the answers to your trade fair questions.

When and where is the fair?

The Southern New Mexico State Fair runs for five days from Wednesday, September 29 through October 3. The exhibition center is located at 12125 Robert Larson Blvd., off Interstate 10 West, approximately 15 minutes’ drive from Las Cruces.

Exhibition times are:

  • September 29: 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.
  • September 30: 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.
  • Oct 1: 9 a.m. to midnight
  • Oct 2: 9 a.m. to midnight
  • Oct 3: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

What does the entry cost?

  • Children up to 6 years: Free of charge
  • Regular Child (7-14 Years): $ 10
  • Regular Adult (15+): $ 15

All trade show exhibitions, entertainment, rodeo and special events are included in the ticket price.

Carnival rides cost extra money.

All You Can Ride bracelets are available online for $ 22. These special tickets allow unlimited journeys and are only valid for one day – on Wednesday, Thursday or Sunday. On Friday and Saturday, trade fair visitors can purchase carnival tickets for US $ 1 each. Rides require different numbers of tickets to participate.

What daily entertainment is offered?

  • Rides: Frazier Shows offers family-friendly rides like a ferris wheel, carousel, slides, and larger rides for those looking for the thrill.
  • Total Control NASCAR Simulator: Drivers can get behind the wheel of an authentic NASCAR racing car and see what it’s like to drive at high speeds.
  • Cirque Adventure: Acrobats and others will put on circus shows for family-friendly enjoyment.
  • Parade the Illusionist: Magic and comedy are used to change the way visitors perceive reality.
  • Noah’s Way petting zoo and pony rides: Various animals will be available for children of all ages.
  • Vaquero Horsemanship through classic riding

Several other special events are scheduled for the weekend, including a cornhole tournament, a Model A Ford exhibit, the third annual stick horse race, and the Grand Champion Drumline Challenge.

Registration for the Cornhole tournament begins on Saturday at 11:30 am in the Coors Pavilion or by emailing Amy at [email protected]. Registration costs $ 50 per team and players must be 14 years or older.

Visitors to the trade fair will also have the opportunity to see classic vehicles from the Model A Ford Club from Borderland A from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday. Registration for the horse races starts on Saturday at 1.30 p.m. for all age groups. The races start at 2pm at the Pete Domenici Rodeo Arena.

On Sunday, the drumlines of each of the four Las Cruces High Schools will compete against each other in the Grand Champion Drumline Challenge. Arrive at noon to cheer your high school on.

During the five days of the fair, food and craft sellers or goods sellers will be on site both outdoors and indoors. Get lemonade, funnel cake, and something fried while you’re there!

Will there be live music?

30. September:

  • 6 p.m .: The Trio Guys on the Center Stage
  • 9pm: Kenny Arroyos & Washtub Jerry
  • 9 p.m .: Yarbrough Band in the Coors Pavilion

Oct 1:

  • 6 p.m .: CM Adams & The 3W Band on the Bravo Mic Stage
  • 7 p.m .: Dallas David Ochoa on the Center Stage
  • 9 p.m .: Kenny Arroyos & Washtub Jerry on the Center Stage
  • 9 p.m – midnight: Tylor Brandon in the Coors Pavilion
  • 9:30 p.m .: Malcolm Tense on the Bravo Mic Stage

Oct 2:

  • 3 p.m .: Destiny on the Center Stage
  • 5 p.m .: Scott Jasmin on the Center Stage
  • 6 p.m .: Natajja on the Bravo Mic Stage
  • 7 p.m .: Calista Band on the Center Stage
  • 9 p.m .: Keith Anderson in the Coors Pavilion

Oct 3:

  • Midday: Grand Champion Drumline Challenge in the Coors Pavilion
  • 3 p.m .: A. Billi Free on the Center Stage
  • 3 p.m .: Clinton Wilcox on the Bravo Mic Stage

When are the rodeo events?

  • September 30th: Ranch rodeo. The teams compete against each other in business-like events.
  • 1st-2nd October: Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association. Participants will travel from across the country to compete for $ 2,000 in each event.
  • October 3rd: barrel race. Cowgirls compete in the rodeo’s open barrel racing.

Admission to the rodeo events is included when purchasing a general trade fair ticket.

What about the Junior Livestock Show?

Southern New Mexico teens have the opportunity to have their livestock judged by industry professionals, with awards being presented over the weekend. Animal categories include pigs, market beef goats, dairy cattle, rabbits, dwarf and milk goats, yearling horses, market lambs, cattle and poultry. The verdict begins on Wednesday.

The Junior Livestock Sale will take place on Friday at 6 p.m., where scholarships will be awarded.

Other exhibitions and competitions include Ag and creative competitions for adults and teenagers, 4-hour indoor exhibitions, Fair Queen and Princess Contest, baking, quilting and crazy hating competitions, an antique tractor exhibition, school arts and crafts, and agricultural public speaking and farming Science fair.

What COVID-19 precautions are being taken?

The fair follows the current guidelines of the state and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Participants do not need to present a vaccination card or a negative COVID-19 test to enter the exhibition grounds.

Face masks are required indoors, except when eating or drinking. The use of face masks outdoors is not mandatory but is recommended, especially when there are large numbers of people.
