“It acknowledges, it admits, that there really is a unit out there that indeed needs more research, more attention, and needs to be taken seriously,” said Maria Tellier of the MUFON New Mexico Chapter.
In a statement, she said the American people deserve transparency and want to sweep the cycle of far-reaching sightings under the rug.
The bill has yet to be passed through Congress, but the search for answers is well underway.
“I believe in flying saucers. I know what that is. It’s a flying saucer. I don’t know where it came from. And I don’t know why it’s here. That’s what I want to know, “said Tellier.
Tellier is Associate Director of the New Mexico Chapter of MUFON – the Mutual UFO Network.
“We are a civil organization that keeps the identity of our witnesses confidential. We are investigating the sightings of UFOs or anomalies and so on across the country and around the world as well. And we report what we find, ”says Tellier said.
She joined the group in 2012 after her own experience in southern New Mexico between Las Cruces and Alamogordo.
“One time I saw something floating in the west and I thought, oh my god you know, I thought I saw what we call a day saucer day disk. And I took pictures of it. And it was, Oh my god, what is that? “
She searched for answers and the group gave her one.
“It was an airship! It was a border patrol airship that MUFON examined and found. It was identifiable. “
Many cases end the same way. MUFON examined nearly 80 sightings in New Mexico this year alone and only about half were identifiable.
“For example, the Starlink satellites are reported quite often as anomalies in the sky, and depending on the angle you’re looking from, it can be really confusing,” said Tellier.
But sometimes – there just aren’t any answers.
“Two years ago I had some sightings at Three Rivers Park. And it was a shining light that I had four cases in June. I couldn’t identify what they were. And they all saw something similar at a similar point in time. But not that thought on the same day, “said Tellier.” I thought maybe I was on to something there for a while. But the Lincoln Forests in the Sacramento Mountains are near this sacred area. And there are a lot of things in and out that we just don’t know what they are. And I’m still keeping an eye on this area. “
But figuring out what people saw is only the first step. The next big question – where does it come from?
“I would be really surprised if we were the only life form in this galaxy, or even this part of the galaxy,” said Tony Beasley, director of the National Radio Astronomy Observatory.
Researchers at the NRAO near Socorro are trying to find answers – by looking at the stars. You have teamed up with the SETI Institute to search the cosmos for strong radio waves.
“The reason radio is a pretty popular place to look for these signals is because radio waves travel through clouds of gas and dust, etc. So you can pick up radio signals from any part of our galaxy,” said Beasley.
The crews finished assembling the technology about a month ago – so no major discoveries yet – but researchers say don’t get your hopes up.
“I remember reading somewhere that the estimate was 10,000 years,” said Beasley.
And even if they find a strong signal, the chances that the signal sent is still there is pretty slim.
“We have only been sending radio signals for 100 years, 120 years or something like that. So the problem with funk is that you look a lot further, but it’s only a narrow window of opportunity, at least it was for us. So there was only a narrow window of time, “said Beasley.” If you take our earth and take the radio signals that come from it and take it away from many of the stars you see? we would not be able to discover it in the night sky. “
But he says the search for intelligent life in the cosmos is only just beginning.
“As it turned out, the place we searched is like a glass of water in the Pacific Ocean. He’s tiny. So okay, your chances may not be so great. But if you don’t look, you won’t discover anything. “
A few small steps to answer a big question.
“I’ve searched all my life. Honest to god. I wish I wish one would end up in my back yard, ”Tellier said.
NRAO officials say they are working on building even more antennas and soon they will be able to see everything in the night sky at once, not just a small part.
